The kids (especially Jess) have been thinking up Halloween costume ideas since last November 1st. It's good she had a few different days to dress up. But we came up with our themed family costume sometime last spring. We discovered this funny little game on our iPhones that became a family favorite--Plants vs. Zombies. For anyone who hasn't heard of it, there are a bunch of different zombies who try to get into your house and you must fend them off by planting various plants who fight to protect your lawn by firing peas, watermelons, apples and lots more. It's a very silly and clever game and we thought, what if we dress up as various zombies? So that's what we did for the ward party. We had fun finding clothing pieces and roughing them up. And of course, we all had red ties.
Makenna and Matt did a trial run for the Activity Day Girls' Daddy Daughter Halloween Party. Matt is the flag bearing zombie and Makenna is pail head zombie.
Saturday there were lots of fun things to do around town for costumed kids. Isaac had a bye week for football so after Jess' soccer game, the kids dressed up and we went down to the Shark Reef.
Isaac's costume kind of evolved over the space of an hour or so as the girls chose their looks. It started as Michael Jackson and ended up as some sort of Euro-man of Mystery.
Jess went with classic witch. She borrowed Isaac's Harry Potter wand and kept casting spells. Her favorite was "Acio Daddy" when we were waiting for him in line. It's a summoning spell.
Makenna wore this to dance class too. Cute.
The threesome.
Touching the rays.
Checking out the jellyfish.
They did a bit of traditional trick or treating too. Isaac went with his friend Jacob and I took the girls around part of the neighborhood. Once again I marveled at the weather. I was wearing flip flops and a long sleeved t-shirt. Beautiful night. Isaac wanted to be a zombie again. Makenna was a graduate and Jess was batgirl--her favorite everyday costume. My favorite moment was when Jess whispered to me, "Mom, I think those people really think I AM batgirl."
Here are the girls posing with their pumpkins. Isaac's is in front.
Isaac and friend Jacob joined for a quick picture before they head out.
When the girls got home, they switched costumes again to hand out candy.
They were hoping people would think they were twins and a few people did ask.

Looks like a fun Halloween. Love the zombie theme. It's been a couple of years since I could convince the hole family to go themed (although the kids kind of did it last year).
