UGA Competition 19 March 2016

This past year Fit Republik has had an in house competition before every multi-club competition. They use this as a way of thinning the numbers they take to competitions, especially for the lower levels.  There just isn't time for every club to bring 30 level 1 girls.  Jessica placed 2nd overall for level 4 at the in house back in February.  Hooray for that, especially on a recovering ankle, but she was a little concerned because she was about to miss two weeks while we went to France and the big competition was 5 days after we got back.  The management at the gym is typical big business and rather horrid to work with, but luckily the kids' individual coaches are great and they bent the "no make-up classes" rule to let her come extra in two extra days between our trip and the competition.  It paid off!  I don't have any still shots during, but I was happy to take several with her on the award podium.  For level 4 girls, over 11 years, she placed 1st in bars (9.5), 2nd on beam (8.5), 3rd on floor (8.5) and first overall.  Her vault score was 8.35.  She was thrilled and beaming.  She got a trophy!  They only give them out for 1st overall for each level.

It was a fun competition.  Matt was able to be there since he was flying out the next morning.  There were also more level 6 girls and two level 8s, which meant more individualized routines to different music.  We are excited for the olympics this summer too!

We also found out that because she is scoring high, she is required to be moved to level 5.  She is eager for the bar routine, but nervous about the new tumbling required: front tuck and back tuck.
