Isaac started kickboxing at an MMA gym this week. Less than two weeks in and we are already filling up our schedule with mutual, activity days, kickboxing and the promise of piano lessons when we get our piano here. He had a private session yesterday and LOVED it. Today was the normal class, but since it is brand new and there aren't other kids yet, it was like another private session. Bonus for him.
Today the girls and I dropped him off in TEACOM (the neighborhood/district where Matt lived last summer) then went across the main street to park in The Greens to drop off some recycling and find a more park-like place to hang out for an hour. I brought yarn to crochet some more preemie hats and the girls brought the container of nail polish to practice on me. We had been hanging out on a grassy spot under a tree--a nice treat in Dubai--for almost the whole hour and were just starting to pack up when a cute lady came up and asked if she could talk to me for a moment. I tried to appologize and say we had to leave to pick up my other child. She said she would tell me quickly.
She pointed out her apartment situated behind us and said she had been watching us, even took a picture. This is the gist of what she said. She thought it was beautiful to see a mother and her children enjoying nature together. She always wanted to do that, but didn't live where there were trees when her kids were young. Now they are 21, 17, and 11 and she feels like the moment has passed her by. She said that we may have been raised in different countries and eat different foods, but inside we are all the same. We love our families and we love to be in nature. She encouraged us to come to her apartment next time "the other child" has a lesson.
Wow. She was a cute, tiny woman with not much of an accent. She taught me several lessons today.
