How to get things done.

After waiting for 2 days for me to sew up the paw of a stuffed bear, Jess tried a new approach.

"Mom, can you get me some string and a needle so I can fix my bear?"

YES. Absolutely.

I gave her a threaded needle, knotted the thread, and let her at it. It's really not bad for a first attempt and she's as proud as anything about it. I was so excited about her taking the initiative. We'll see if this "help yourself" lesson carries over into other areas.

  1. Love it! Wish my kids would take that kind of initiative. Or my husband, for that matter. Just today he said, I guess I'll just throw these jeans away since you obviously aren't ever going to repair them. Hmmmmm.
