We went back to Garden of the Gods with a much bigger group, though for some reason we never did a group photo. There were two sets of parents: Brian's and Hilary's. There were 5 of Dan and Terry's kids (me, David, Ben, Brian, and Kim), one of Don and Sherri's kids (Hilary) and my kids. It was a warm day, so we tried to find a shady spot to visit and picnic. And of course there had to be some climbing around as well.
This rock proved trickier to get down than up. I wasn't there for the log throwing, but the pictures do a good job of telling a story of boys being boys.
Isaac, Kim and I couldn't resist looking out at the Incline often and marveling that, yes, we had climbed that 2000 foot staircase. Pikes Peak is hovering in the distance. . . .
The kids spotted another deer, but this one also was too fast for them.
Runaway deer.
We were picnicking near the Siamese Twins, a site they had ridden past on their horses. Makenna is showing me from where they had come.
And this is how they went past. I gained new respect for the horse riders. Those are big steps down! Through a narrow rocky gap! Well done horses and well done kids!

That afternoon we packed up the minivan and drove to Golden. Jen kindly offered their house for the night to cut an hour + off our drive time to Utah the next day. The kids had a blast with her girls, even if it didn't last long enough. It's okay, we'll be back after a few weeks in Utah. The picture below is the impromptu dance party to go along with Isaac's piano practice.
