I don't know how it originally came up, but the kids planned to camp in the backyard Tuesday night. Tuesday is currently the start of our weekend because Matt has Wednesday and Thursday off. So after we got home from Activity Days and young mens and dropping off a couple of extra kids, they gathered supplies and started setting up.
They put up Isaac's tent which hasn't been used since the week in Thunder Ridge (outside Cedar City UT), then blew up the air mattress and shoved it inside. The air mattress is about 18 inches high, so the ceiling got a LOT closer when lying on it. I think Makenna ended up having it to herself as Isaac and Jess made cozy, claustrophobic spots between it and the tent walls. After everything was set up, they came in to shower and get pjs. After family prayer, they went out with a 1/2 dozen flashlights and even more Calvin and Hobbes books. And Isaac took a pocket knife. Just in case.
It was such a success that Jess has requested to do it again on her birthday.
