The girls are back from a full day with friends. They told me their story when they first came home around 8:30, but now Matt is home and he is hearing the long version as I type. There is a family in the ward that has two girls about our girls' ages, but we hadn't done anything socially until Jessica's friend party. Jess and Nicole had so much fun that we started making Sunday afternoon a normal play date for all 4 girls--it usually involves dressing up in prom or pioneer clothes and then having nerf gun wars. Nicole just turned 9 and instead of having a party, she wanted to spend the day with Jess at Kidzania, and Makenna went along with Christina.
When I visited Matt in Dubai almost 2 years ago, we saw ads for this place and I remember thinking, too bad our kids are too old, that looks like so much fun! The ads all have young kids in them. But more recently, I heard from 3 different moms with much older kids that it is really better for older kids. After hearing the girls' stories, I have to agree. I am so glad they got to go and have a great day with good friends.
Basically, there are dozens of careers the kids can try out. The girls were police, firemen, bakers, rock climbers (outside buildings), perfume makers, EMTs, Coke bottlers, race car drivers (with licenses), pilots, and bankers. They did not have time to make pizza, put on a play, be a reporter, work for phone providers(DU), run a game hall, paint a picture, work in a salon, be a radio host, work at a grocery store or make biscuits. Parents aren't allowed. Susan took them, and signed them in, then had 8 hours to kill. I stayed home and caught up on Primary stuff and some cleaning and went on a bike ride. Thrilling. Isaac spent 3 hours at a scout service project, a few hours on school, then went swimming with friends.
I sent a camera with Makenna and she did a good job taking pictures. We just don't have too many of her. Thank goodness the workers would do group shots sometimes!
They had a grand time. We might have to make arrangements to go again before we leave Dubai. If the homeschool group goes again, we will definitely join in this time knowing it's not just for tots.

This is what the counter looked like. The girls each brought home a bottle they created. They could squeeze in the essences they liked best.
At the fire station. They got a lecture, slid down a slide (not a pole) and rode on the fire truck to the fire. They had to put out the smoke and red lit hotel with water hoses.

After they took their written test, they were allowed on the road.
One of their last stops was at the Coke factory. They got to make their own bottles, fill them, cap them and a machine shrink wrapped them with the label.
