Makenna got some fabric for Christmas. She got patterns for her birthday, and last Wednesday, she put them together and created something beautiful! I was an advisor, but she did 95% of the work. She learned how to pin and cut out with pattern pieces. She had to read the directions off the big sheet of instructions. She hemmed and ironed and put in elastic. I showed her how to pull the gathers on one section and she did the rest. She was so happy throughout the process and SO EXCITED by the finished product. She couldn't wait till Friday so she could wear it to church. I think she has plans to make another soon. If she uses the same pattern, she won't need help at all.
Teaching how to gather.
Hemming the bottom.
The finished skirt. Don't worry, on Friday she wore a new WHITE shirt. The above one has been relegated to knock around the house only. The blue flowers perfectly matched a little shrug she had gotten a couple years before.
While she was busy sewing, Isaac was busy setting up the GoPro Matt had gotten for his birthday. It has more capabilities, but a lot more set up required. Matt was working to sweep and blow and hose out the garage. Jess decided to make everyone lunch.

Super cute skirt, Makenna!!
