After a full day of visiting 2 colleges, we came back to Muellers' house to find the girls happily engaged with entertaining hamsters on the grass. They are soft and cuddly and the girls LOVED having surrogate pets for as many days as they could devise. There was a chance we would drive back that night, but I was feeling beat and not up to dealing with a 1-2 hour drive depending on traffic. Instead, we spent one more night and left after breakfast.
Sadly, Makenna woke up the next day feeling ill. She stayed home and took long naps while grandma Terry and I took Jessica and Alie to try and find some adventure. First stop was Uncle Wilbur's fountain. Grandma Terry had been told to take grandkids there by a few friends, but we were the first to actually experience it. When we first arrived, we learned that the shooting fountains don't start till noon!! Huff. So we killed a bit of time window shopping and continuing to search for stand alone hammocks with no luck. We enjoyed the fun artwork around the park and hoped this fountain would be worth it. It was. They loved it.
By the next morning, Makenna was feeling much better, so I dropped them off at a bounce place for a couple hours. There was also rock painting, frozen yogurt eating and lots of chatting in their rooms not pictured. Happy cousin time was sadly coming to a close for the summer.
We got back to learn the chrysalises had hatched! Grandma had put a big laundry hamper over the big beautiful butterflies to let their wings open and dry. She saved them to let the girls release them into the wild.
They had watermelon offerings, but weren't interested.
They used a combination of sticks and fingers to coax them out. They each sipped from a flower briefly, then flew away. Good luck to them!

Outdoors store. no hammocks with supports but they had 14er pins....
Made me think of Calvin's snowmen art. People have willed his holes with rocks.
Local artists worked together to bring about this piece. It started from a sketch done by a boy who was killed in a pedestrian vehicular accident. We found lots of icons/shapes/details all over the bird.
Very cool flying birds flapping in the breeze.
At noon the water started and the music and they had a ball!
After this wild success, we drove to the German bakery for brotchen and salami to take to the America the Beautiful park. The goal was to have a picnic and play at another fountain. Sadly, the fountain was closed for maintenance. So we had a picnic, the girls played at the playground for a bit then we went home. They decided they weren't done with water yet, so they went out to the backyard. This is how I found them an hour later.
