We have been coming here since Isaac was a toddler, but the kids all still love it! There are old favorites and new exhibits. We arrived about 30 minutes after they opened and stayed till we got kicked out at closing time. (Minus an hour for lunch off-site). Our City Pass ticket included an IMAX or laser show. We chose one about Humpbacked whales, narrated by Obi-Wan. It was good. Since being back in Dubai, I catch Jess playing at being a breaching humpbacked whale at the pool. :-)
The movie provided extra good fortune because it required us to go into an area we had never seen before. It was all about audio/visual history in the development of motion pictures. The first two pictures show what the kids think would be a cool science project if they can rig it up. The faces are on one block (you can pick between 4) and the head outlines are on the other. When you look through the eye holes, both are reflected off mirrors separately onto your different eyeballs, but your brain puts them together to make a complete head and face.
Isaac and Makenna played giant chess. Jess learned how to play checkers--with a giant board. We solved a bunch of puzzles and found this new game. It's called pyramid and can jump like checkers, but no pieces are taken off the board. Interesting. Isaac wanted a rematch, but we just didn't have time if we were going to see the new exhibit!
I thought it was a fluke that our Holiday Inn had explicit garbage bins and signage. Then we saw them on campus, then we found this at Subway. In fact EVERYWHERE in this city has gone European with their trash. Well maybe it's not European, but it sure is German and Swiss!

The new one was called Grossology. It was overall geared towards a slightly younger crowd, but still fun. You get to learn and play with the science of burps, farts, boogers.....
Clock your best pitch with a whiffle ball. Isaac won. We also tried who can get the slowest, but still recordable speed. I think Isaac might have won that one too.
This was at the end of some old exhibits they recreated that were on display at Seattle's World Fair in 1962. The very disorienting one was a hallway where everything was tilted, which made you want to tilt too so your eye input will make more sense, but that throws off your inner ear's balancing.... Makes you feel dizzy just walking.
6 o'clock, closing time. Isaac called grandma Terry and grandpa Dan back to report on UW while the girls played around some statues and the grass by the Space Needle.
How to save luggage space? Take pictures of cool souvenirs instead of buying them!
