The long awaited concert was Saturday and it didn't disappoint. We were a little over dressed perhaps wearing clothes that required ironing. We should have taken a clue about clothes choices from the fact that it was in an "arena" and it was "Star Wars". There were lots of kids dressed up in Star Wars halloween costumes and quite a few adults too. The full symphony was excellent. There was a choir too for the Syth Lord music themes. The whole thing was narrated by the C3P0 actor, which was fun. Most of the time, there were movie shots being shown on the big screen, but sometimes they would show the orchestra. Makenna (who was closest to me) had fun finding all the different instruments. She has a good friend who is part of a musical family and is learning to play the harp, so Makenna is reflecting that knowledge.
I took this picture when we first got there and the boys went to the bathroom. Later, we learned that there was much better stuff on display.
This is the Darth Vader costume. There were several others from all 6 movies including a super fancy Queen Amidala outfit. There were also weapons and huge blown up pictures and a couple storm troopers who would pose with you if you wanted to wait your turn. (We didn't because someone was anxious to go back outside to see the Corvettes we saw on the way in!)
As we walked into the arena building, we noticed dozens of Corvettes of all colors filling the parking lot across the street, even a light green one! The local club apparently had a show/meet today. Most were gone when we came back out 2 1/2 hours later, but Jess got to look up close at a few.

When did Jess become a corvette coniseur?
ReplyDeleteShe first started noticing them when we moved back to the states. She sees them on the road all the time. She is way better than me at recognizing the make of loads of cars. She is Matt's car buddy--though we don't know where the Corvette thing came from.
