Memory Lane in Steilacoom

We spent the last day in green Washington around the Martins' old stomping ground.  We tried to start along Salter's Point Beach, but found it closed for some sort of construction, maybe with the railroad tracks?  So we went to Sunnyside Beach instead.  The kids found some HUGE jellyfish stuck on land at low tide.

This is inside the very old post office/drug store that is now a little diner.  They have the original papers signed by a few US Presidents granting them authority to run a US Post Office.  There are lots of fun antiques/artifacts on display. 

Waughop Lake (Wah-hop) Matt's cross country team used to run around here.  We fed ducks here with the kids years ago.  There is a path that leads to their old church building, but there is some confusion about which direction you need to head....

Pretty big tree.  It made me want to go see the Redwoods.

Isaac was off exploring with Jaimi and missed out on this one. 

Their old house.   The yard needs work, but the neighborhood still looks good.  We even saw Marnie and FRED.  

This might not belong here, but it doesn't really need its own post either.  After we drove away from Steilacoom, we headed towards Yakima for the night. We would finish the drive to Bear Lake the next day.  We were lucky and got through the mountains before they closed the road for blasting and Muellers got stuck waiting in traffic.  We went to a legendary burger place called Miner's.  They were as huge as advertised and tasty, but I don't think we will ever make the extra effort to visit Yakima for a Miner's Burger again.   I really should have taken a picture of the food, but I didn't want to get my phone messy, so this is a killin' time picture.
