Matt had heard about the Seattle Underground tour and we wanted to check it out. As we neared the spot according to our navigation, we saw a lady holding a sign advertising an underground tour. Perfect. We followed her below the street and signed up. After a few more people joined us, she started the tour by making sure we all knew this wasn't the.... tour, this is a new one. Oh. Oops. At that point we felt rather committed and stayed, but now we kind of wonder what we missed. Oh well.
A big chunk of Seattle completely burned down in 1889. This gave them an opportunity to build better and smarter. When rebuilding, they made tunnels around all the foundations of the buildings, but they got forgotten over the years. Now you can go tour them.
Next we went to the Seattle Aquarium. Last time we were here, the kids spent a couple of hours watching the otters break apart and eat icy fish pops and then just play. They had fun watching the otters again, but spent more time in the tide pools at the beginning. They were all brave and touched a bunch of spiky, squishy, slimy creatures.

Between tunnels we walked through pioneer square. This lady was setting up a protest/picture stand. You could pay to have your picture taken by the makeshift outhouse and she could use the money to later bail herself out of jail, as she expected to be arrested later. She's trying to raise awareness about the need for more public restrooms in the area, but having a porta-potty without a permit is illegal.

Otter fur is SO SOFT! It is the most dense fur (most hairs per square inch) of any animal. Needed because they don't have blubber to keep them warm.

We had good intentions of going to see fireworks, but did NOT want to fight crowds. We all went to an evening show of Despicable Me 2 to try to stay awake longer, but afterwards, just crashed. In the morning we got up and left to go meet up with the Muellers.
