August begins

Hiking around the green areas around grandma's house.

There's David

Jess loved setting up the table outside for breakfasts.  Today she used blueberries as ornaments on the napkins.  We loved having waffles!

There is a Target just down the hill--walking distance, if you don't mind a couple miles uphill on the way back.  We went down several times during the summer and it was always an event.  Dubai is all about shopping.  There are dozens of malls and loads of high end stores, but besides popping into H&M occasionally, we don't shop there.  Crazy prices unless you go to the old sections of the city, but that has a whole bag of other challenges. There was something about Target that just drew us in.

With high heels, Makenna became the tallest, but Jess was sad to still be short.  But I'm glad.

These are not available over there.

These shouldn't be available anywhere.

Trying on dresses While You Were Sleeping style.

Go bold or go home.

These are funny hand grips on the climbing wall in the neighborhood park.

On top of the wall before the afternoon storm hit.

We learned about this hair-do from Beccy and really wanted to try it.  We were going to buy a new pair of socks to use, but then found a mesh donut at Target for just this purpose.  Not a bad first attempt!

We made our first trip to Garden of the Gods and I selfishly went on a run while the kids, David and my parents explored and climbed around base camp.  I stopped along the way a few times to take pictures (and catch my breath!) But really, it is just beautiful there.

I saw several deer, lots of squirrels and rabbits and a couple chipmunks.

Makenna loved this little grove.

The girls marked their territory.
