DDR Museum, Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag Building, Jewish Memorial, Hitler's parking lot

St. Nikolaus came!  We found a chocolate Santa outside our doors this morning.  Another plus for the hotel, eh?

We did a lot more walking today.  In fact, when we were at our furthest point and faced with the prospect of walking back after the sun had set (COLD), we opted to try the underground instead. Here are some highlights.

We saw the sun! At least for a little while.  Outside the Berlin Dom again, the line was too long, so once again, we haven't gone inside.

Brandenburger Tor: Avenue of victorious return from Prussia by Napoleon, symbol for the Nazi regime, site for political speeches and demonstrations including US Presidents JFK and Reagan.

This is the Reichstag Building--like the Capitol in DC.  Their parliament meets inside.  There is a huge glass dome that you can walk around up above and look down on the law makers.  

This is a massive memorial to the Jews killed during the war.  

Matt giving the kids a history lesson.  This parking lot sits where the massive bunker once lay underground.  The site of Hitler's suicide right before the Soviets marched in to nab him.
