We made it to Switzerland

This will be very short.  It was really a travel day.  We got up at 6:45 to eat one last massive breakfast with plenty of poppyseed brötchen, hot chocolate, fruit, muesli and eggs.  We made a final check of our rooms and headed down to wait for our taxi.  Pretty sure he didn't run the meter and pocketed our fare, but it was 10 Euro less than the official metered ride on our arrival, so, va bene.

The Tegel Airport is tiny.  When we arrived, the luggage pick-up was literally right where you walk in at your arrival gate.  On our way out, we walked through security and BAM, you are at your gate.  Had we known its true size, maybe we would have slept in an extra 30 minutes?  We had to wait to check in till the 9:35 flight left.

The doorway over Matt's shoulder was security.  And right behind Makenna was the check-in desk where we dropped our luggage.  Tiny.  Especially considering this is a major city and capital of Germany.  Apparently there is a proper international airport being built, but has been stalled for the last few years due to European budgets......

Makenna looking old again.  Sigh.  Now we are leaving the Zurich airport and going to the train station.

Waiting for our train.  We rode on the upper level.  We made one switch in Visp--6 minutes to get off and go from track 6 to 3.  And they are serious about their schedule.  Swiss trains, not Italian. 

Our home for the next 6 nights.  It's a huge step up from our "closets" in Berlin, which were very clean, and highly functional.  It even snowed on us a little as we walked to dinner.  We haven't seen Zermatt by day yet, but it's already charming in the dark.  No cars.  There are these little electric "taxis", but their shape is truly unique.  I'll take a picture by day.  They are so quite though.  You have to be wary while walking.  Matt and I ran over to the shop 2 minutes away to get some breakfast basics while the kids unpacked a bit.  Then dinner--WOW good Italian pizza and pumpkin soup.  We are showered and heading to bed now.  Good night!
