Day 6 October 8
Up for breakfast. We said goodbye to our lovely hosts at Perge Ponsiyon. Lots of double kisses and double hugs. Then Jessica fell and busted her knee. Mustafa came to the rescue and cleaned her up. We headed to Alanya today. We got to our hotel at about 2:30. This is where we spilt up. Many of us went for a walk for lunch and some others enjoyed the spa. Then we took a bunch of the kids for a long walk to the marina area. We came back to the hotel for a "Turkish night". It was belly dancers and snake dancers and flaming knife throwers. Finally to sleep in a real bed.

After the girls did their routine, big Adam showed his skills.
The crash
Time for the medic. All the adults who run the camp were worried for Jess.
Saying good-bye took awhile. I doubt many of their guests stay the whole week. We were told through Mustafa that they were very impressed with all the kids' behavior. Good scouts and siblings.
I think everyone fell asleep on the bus.
Alanya is a lovely Mediterranean town.
Doggy water
Get your fresh squeezed pomegranate juice at stands dotting the street.
There were a bunch of ships docked for water tours/dinners.
The moms
Goodness, we look too serious here. Probably talking scout paperwork....
There were two guys dancing in these costumes--really funny.
Here I am getting flaming "knives" tossed into the foam board on my middle by a blindfolded guy.
Jess and Aleaha watching the show.
Makenna and I passed on the snake holding
Day 7 October 9
Woke up for hotel breakfast. It was the same breakfast that we had all week. Ha ha! Then we went to the bazaar for fruit and clothes shopping. We took a city bus and then went back to the hotel to drop off our goodies. Then we walked down the main road to the "mountain" toward the castle. We cut through the cobblestone paths and made our way up the steep hill and made it to the top. I carved the ladies initials into a cactus. It seems to be a tradition there as almost all of the cactus were carved with something. The views were amazing. We walked all the way back to the hotel. Some of the boys got haircuts and others went for dinner. The bus picked us up and we headed to the airport. We stopped at a little restaurant near the airport for a final meal. Meter long "pizza".
We got into Sharjah about an hour late. Everyone was very tired. We all got through passport control. Gathered our bags. Said a sleepy goodbye in the taxi line. Then we all piled into our cabs and headed home with thoughts of tomatoes, cucumbers and beautiful mountains in our heads.

We ate a kilo of fresh figs.
Don't know what these were, but they were pretty.
Makenna ate one by herself.
This was not common, but seemed so quaint.
Day one of a week of head scarf wearing.
Hiking to the castle.
Leaving the hotel:Makenna and Stephanie model their new favorite pants!
Final Turkey meal 15 minutes before arriving at the airport. Meter long "pizza".
Isaac hijacked Stephanie's phone and took a bunch of selfies.
Learning/playing 5 stones at the airport at 1:30am.
A sample of what I pulled out of the washing machine cache after washing the turkey clothes.
