It was less than two weeks after coming home from Turkey and we had another campout. The girls were rearing to go, but Isaac was moaning about 2 nights without showers. We negotiated and skipped the first night, leaving early the next morning to get to the campsite in time for the hike. We went to this location last spring and loved it. Sadly, it was much hotter on the hike in October than March and much less green, but it was still a great outing.
I commandeered Isaac's hat from trek. He won't wear it, but I like it.
I wasn't long before the group stretched out--Makenna always stayed in the lead group.
We met up at the barbed wire.
We rested and drank in each of the few shady spots. Thank goodness for the dad who brought 4 extra liters of water in his pack--they got used. Everyone drank a lot more than last time.
Jessica's little camelback doesn't hold much, so she refilled from Isaac's water stores.
Isaac and Neil
Jessica, and I think you can see Aleaha's arm too. They stuck together, and were joined by Adam and Sarah.
When we got back to camp, Makenna changed to Turkey pants.
After eating lunch, the little goats continued to climb all over the surrounding hills.
The senior scouts set up stations to work on skills with the younger boys. Makenna joined in. I heard from one of the dads that she was better at lashing than all the boys. Not surprising, really. This girl knows her knitting and crocheting and lashing seems like an obvious extension.
In the morning as we were finishing loading the cars, several camels came into camp.
They found the few bananas we had left, grabbed them, and the box they were resting on, and started to run off. They were loosely hobbled, but they still went FAST.
When they started to run, the kids ran after them. Then they dropped the box and bananas. Jess and Aleaha wanted to give the bananas back.
