I have been catching up with the pictures and some of the happier things before typing out what has chiefly been on my mind this week. We had been enjoying what we thought was an open, honest relationship with the buyers of our house. They had agreed from the beginning to lease back our house to us till August should their loan go through quickly. When it turned out that the closing date was May 19th, the first thing I did was check with them, feeling a little worried that we didn't have anything in writing. No problem they said. You sound worried, they said. I said, really we don't need all the way till August, mid June would be good enough. No problem, great, they said. That would allow them to start trickling things in before their lease is up for their rental house.
Matt and I signed all the docs before he left the country.
So they called Tuesday saying they can't possibly have renters after all, and we have to be out. I had 3 almost sleepless nights and went through boxes of kleenex while exploring the possibilities of completely stopping the deal. After many, many phone calls the end result is we can't do anything without being in breach of contract and liable, because they waited till after we signed. So the Air Force family we thought we had good rapport with is kicking out a husbandless wife and her 3 kids because they are not willing to give us 4 measly weeks. There is a lesson to learn in this. Still try to trust and be Christlike, just get it in writing.
I am done crying and feeling lied to and betrayed. We will get through this thanks to the kind offers from many friends and a little (or a lot) of extra stress. We will have Matt's parents come Wednesday morning to help. Kim, Emily and her kids are coming Wednesday afternoon. My sisters will be in charge of school. My in-laws and I will be directing the movers and making sure the Italy boxes don't go yet while the movers are here Thursday. Both sets of visitors will have their cars filled with plenty of random stuff. Friday we will all go to Isaac's play at noon. Then my sisters and crew leave Saturday morning. We will go to the Saturday night performance as well. Isaac has a cast party afterward. Sunday will be as normal as possible. Monday morning, early, Matt's parents will drive back to Utah and we will go with our friends, the Popps, to the Grand Canyon. We had planned this trip a few weeks ago and by golly, we are still going. We will have the movers come back and finish up the 17th or 18th and drive our truck with what we have left to our friends' house for our last month in Vegas.
Then we are off to Colorado and the summer of nomadishness.
