Chef School

We went on a field trip to a Culinary School.  There were huge windows looking into every room and the kids got to see lots of action.  The students wore checkered pants and short hats.  The chefs (instructors) had black pants and tall hats.  There was a sauce room, International Cuisine, baking, catering, American, food art and more that I'm not remembering right now.

The food art class had just ended when we came by and the chef invited us in and did a couple quick demonstrations.
He made a cantaloupe flower

and a swan from a honeydew melon.  His finished bouquet is pictured too.  He told us that if we wanted to come back tomorrow, he would be carving an ice sculpture with a chain saw.

This is Makenna by one of the student's work.

At the end of the tour, the kids got to sample a bunch of different cookies from the baking class.  It made us all want to enroll.  They offer kids' classes twice a year.  Maybe we'll have to sign-up!
